Ride a White Mare

Day 9 of my 2020 Gratitude Project. Today's painting took a bit of coaxing to get it to emerge. Following the same horse and rider theme I come back to over and over, this one revisits a sub-theme - horse and standing rider. Like a vaulter, the woman stands on the back of her dappled mare. She is confident in her balance and trusts the movement of the horse below her. But with her arms raised overhead, it looks like she is trying to get someone's attention. The mare's ears are tilted backwards, listening to her rider's call. Perhaps annoyed that her rider has forgotten she does not need to be rescued. Or to rescue.  She is strong and has everything she needs within herself to not only survive, but to thrive.

There is something dream like about this painting, and like a dream, it has a wisdom to impart.
